What employers and employees need to know about jury duty!
One of our attorneys with Anderson Jones, PLLC has spent the week serving jury duty. This brings up a hot topic that Clients often ask for our attorneys’ advice. Questions such as…
“Is an employer required to allow an employee time off for serving jury duty?”
“Is the employer required to pay the employee while they are serving on a jury?”
Under both North Carolina and South Carolina law, employers are required to allow their employee time off to serve on jury duty, and employees cannot suffer negative treatment by their employer as a result. Leave for jury duty, however, does not have to be paid.
